I really wanted to try motocross in the Philippines but I've been
discouraged by my family because it is a very
expensive and dangerous sports. When i came to the states
in 1998 it so happened that my employer owned a big farm
in Grayslake Il..So i bought my first bike. an old
school Yz 125 1986 model. I rode my bike around
the farm and a couple of my friends would come and try
my bike until they decided to buy their own bikes.
During the weekends they would come and we ride
all day and after the day is over we would hang out in
the barn, we hooked up some disco lights and we party all
night.
Our group grows bigger and bigger until in 2002 we named
it the - Chicago Dirt Riders

When I was in Grade 5 my father gifted me a bicycle
which had front and rear suspensions very much
different from other bikes at that time, it started
me off. It led me to be interested in motorcycling
later on. Watching Ricky Johnson's motocross racing
videos while he was at his peak, made him my idol.
He was the US Champion rider at that time. When I
was still in the Philippines, I had a red and white
Yamaha DTR 200.It had only one side- radiator. I
sold it and then got a
Kawasaki KDX 250 US version. Bought it from
Raymond Saguin. I started selling motorcycle parts
and accessories in Dipolog, a year after I came to
the
US. in
1993. In 1997 I got my first racing bike! A Honda CR
250.At that time I did not know any body yet who
also had a passion in riding bikes like me. I was
alone practicing my skills with nobody to confer
to and share my joy in riding. It was lonesome! Then
out of the blue and by luck Dodong Rubio introduced
me to Lito Ronday, a very likeable guy, who also
happened to own a racing bike. It was a blessing
because that started our friendship and ended my
loneliness. To make the story short that also sparked
the founding of our group which later on officially
became CDR in 1999.

When I was 3 years old I remember doing stunts with my
tricycle trying to imitate my Dad, ( Tony Icao Jr.) his been
racing Motocross since i was a kid and that's how i became
influenced. but motocross is a very expensive sports,
that's why my experience is very limited. My first
experience is that when Bogdin Endriquez let me tried his CR-250
for 2 laps around his tracks in Salug Zn. Second is that when my
friend Aris Gurdiel take me for a trail ride. Right away I fell
in love with the sports but just could not afford it. So Instead, i
did BMX racing which is similar to Motocross. In 1999 i moved to
Chicago and luckily meet Ronnie Bonjoc which later then
introduced me to the rest of the CDR members. In 2002 i broke my
leg and at the same year i was elected as the first President of
the group. In 2006 we started the Tigbakay Series and that's
when i experience my first Motocross racing. i won the first
place in the beginners class and then later moved up to Novice
Class. Now i am addicted to motocross. Second - Open - Bmx Race -

I remember the days when Datoy was in his heydays, I always
admired him. Getting an MX dirt bike was impossible. Instead, a
BMX bike was the only thing closest you can ride. The biggest
break came when we raced BMX on that very same MX track. It was
good enough!! When I came to the States I was pursuing BMX, just
about the time CDR was founded .i was aware of their existence
but stuck to BMX racing. I always love Motocross and it found me. How? My 91 Toyota
MR2 was traded by Cupid with a brand new 2003 YZ125 and the rest
is history.

I used to wash my Sisters boyfriends bike,( Honda 50) just to be
able to sit and ride with his bike. and then he thought me how
to drive his motorcycle. My dad realized my passion for
motorcycle.then he traded our Cow for a Dirt bike, that's when I
learned how to use the clutches. In 1997 i move to chicago and
becomes a member of CDR in 1999.

I was in elementary the frist time i rode a
bike, it was a suzuki 80 cc sport. and i learned to
ride by myself. during my high school days I always go to our
stadium and run that bike on the oval and do some wheelies too.
In 1981 I got my 1st brand new bike a yamaha DT 125, during that
time it was only two of a kind during that year in the
philippines. I met some friends at roxas city who like to ride
mx, I joined them and started racing with them with my DT 125 .
They found me fast so they trained me at
the back of roxas city mayor's house. every afternoon we ride
then at night IHAW IHAW na gid. It was really fun. that same
year camel motocross visited iloilo, we dicided to join, me and
my friend nonong, Wow! when i saw the big jumpI was so nervous.
I couldnt sleep all night and i had stomach upset ,i went to the
bathroom all night .I blamed the food , but it was not ,It was
from so much stress. finally the big day for me came , 30 mins.
before the race I drank one lapad tanduay straight, t had no
effect at all. well what happened to the race.???every lap i
crashed ,but never quit till it was done.. at night i felt pain
all over my body. and i told myself i need to practice
more. and more and more. what happen next read this article.
think Motocross in the Philippines was well organized way back
in 1988 when Butch Chase sort of organizing the sports. Camel
was the
number one sponsor with Shell and the four japanese brands kind
of supported the teams. Everybody knows everybody. Guys from
Manila knows the guys from Visayas and
Mindanao. There are races all over the country every quarter and
if there is no race, everybody kind of do their own thing with
their local clubs. For example the riders in Manila kind of
converege in Marikina for a Sunday Enduru run from 7:00 am to
noon with lunch at a local ihaw-ihaw. That was fun. The vet
class was ruled by guys like Manolo Samson and his brother and
also Lito Ignacio. The Pro / Expert Class was always the
battle between Jovie Saulog, Ernie Leongson and Jolet Jao. The
novices were Bobby Mencias, A white kid with a last name Andrews
and Pepo and Andot Rubi in the Visayas.
James Andrada also made name for himself in the Negros / Ilo-ilo
area. And there are countless names in Mindanao including
myself. Those were the days. No Politics, just plain fun
Motocross Racing. Everybody was united with one common goal,
that is to race and promote the sport. Today, we are all
divided. The guys in Manila do not come to Mindanao when we have
a race. Only a few like Jovie and Jing Leongson. Of course
Popeye is always here. If you ask the question why Glenn is not
around, the common
answer is: This not a NAMSSA sanctioned race. No wonder why
nobody can claim he
is the best because the other good riders are not around. Do you
think I will ever see
the best of Philippine Motocross? I doubt it. now I AM here in
chicago you want more stories? NO, i'll finish the whole page
...I joined cdr in 1999 thru jaemar ,I met lake,
bobby , ronnie, neil, pareng lito. dodong and nonoy galeza riding at
the farm. having a good time, after riding ano pa? IHAW IHAW NA.
now cdr has become a big family , so di na IHAW IHAW lang letson

I started riding BMX when I was 4. I joined BMX racing at the age
of 6 until 13.Then when I was in second year high school I
started riding enduro. I never thought of joining motocross
because it is a dangerous sport and I was scared I might break
my bones. When I came to chicago, I've been watching my dad race
and he encouraged me to try motocross but I kept refusing him.
At the age of 18, I decided to try motocross with my dad. After a
year, I fell in love with the sport. In 1999, I bought my first
bike-a yz250. Then a couple of months later, I bought my first
vehicle at Castle Honda and that's where I met Mario Adap. I
asked him if he knows any filipino dirt riders. He mentioned
about Dodong Rubio. At the same day, i called dodong, and he was
on his way to grayslake. He invited me to go there with him.
When I got there, I met Lito Ronday and I saw 5 dirt bikes in
the
> garage. I borrowed one of the bike and that's when I started
> riding with them. It's very addicting I can't stop riding my
bike!

Growing up, watching my brothers ride was something that got me
interested
in motorcycle. I remember in our backyard seeing their dirtbike
in mid-air while i was playing ,puzzled me on what the heck had
just happened!!. So by the age of 6, I learned to ride
motorcycle by myself and it was my mother's Honda 70. How did I
do it? simply due to curiosity and guts. Ten years later
my brother got a new Honda XLR200 and he let me ride it
occasionally, and Man!! I was thrilled by the bike's power and
sound of the thumper especially when you squeeze the throttle
wide open ,it makes it more alive and powerful. So one day I
took the bike to our farm trying to imitate Mc Grath tearing up
the dirt without even boots nor a helmet. All i know is that I
just had a great time riding. when I came to Chicago in 2000 and
about a year later I met Lake and Orly thru my cousin and we
went to Grayslake and introduced me to the group of "pogi"
riders which was not called CDR yet. By 2002 I got a '99 CR125
from lake after he got hurt. I got hooked into riding.a few
weeks later I dislocated my elbow, but it didn't stop me from
riding again. We rode every weekend and even twice a week. But
there's a time in your life when you have to set some
priorities, so i am on "semi-retirement" for a while. If riding
is in your blood, you just cannot turn around and walk away it
sticks with you no matter what. So when the right time comes,
you will see me RIDE again. Be safe and see ya at the tracks!

When I was a kid; several times i went out with my father to
trail riding. Riding on the back of his motorcycle or club's
party (Cycles Unlimited of Dipolog City, Philippines);
I love the noise and smell of a smoke coming from the exhaust pipe of a
dirt bike.
Until I learned to ride his motorcycle .My dad’s
bike still running in good conditions (Yamaha Enduro
100) it’s already 28 yrs old now. I had a couple accidents while
learning which is part of the process. Late Diosdado Datoy from
our City is one of my favorite rider when I was a kid… growing
up in Dipolog City where motocross is always
alive and never miss a single motocross event in my younger
days. Never in my wildest dream that I would own a dirt bike or
even just ride motocross, because it’s an expensive
hobby. the cost of a bike would build a small house in the
Philippines. Until I came to Chicago, U.S.A. and happened to met
one of the CDR pioneer Ronnie Bonjoc in 2002
and introduced me to the group. From that moment on, my hobby is
pretty much with motocross. I can say “no” to drugs; but I can’t
say “no” to motocross. Better be high to
motocross but not to drugs! (Watch and learn; be safe everyone.)

My job in the motorcycle industry gave me the chance to
appreciate the passion of dirt riding ,that riders of all ages
regardless of their status in the society meet and hang out
together as friends. I got the chance to meet and hang out with
some of the motocross legends as such Butch Chase ,Ken Falco and
Yoyong Buncio, to name a few.Yoyong Buncio, the propreitor of
YRS Modifications, a friend of mine, was the one who invited me
to join with them during weekends for a dirt trail riding in the
rugged terrains at Montalban, Rizal. It was then that I realized
it's not too late to learn to ride.

I grew up with motorcycles in my childhood years, my Dad came from
Cagayan De Oro and all of them, his brothers and even their dad
(my grandpa) is an avid motorcycle rider, when most people
enjoyed watching, they were already doing it themselves. I
remember my dad's Honda CR250 “Elsinore” in the late 70's
(comparable to today's CRF 450F) neighbors would complain how
loud it was, not to mention that his other friends would group
together for joy rides. My first experience into two wheels was
a BMX and would bike around Panglao Island and other towns for
the whole day with friends, sometimes, 3-4 hours at a time and
go to beaches for a splash. Fun times. I got my very own first
motorcycle at age 17, a Kawasaki Ninja 80 that I was able to
push pass 120kph with 2 additional passengers. Got a Yamaha DT
125 and joined Santo Nino Riders de Cebu, got another DT 125
after busting the first one, those where crazy times, reckless
times I would say. Riding around Cebu and looking for street
races and drag racing in the reclamation area. After starting my
own business, I got a Kawasaki KMX 125, really love that bike,
my very first liquid-cooled motorcycle that looks like an MX
bike. Years after, I sold it, the danger was too much, younger
generations who happened to be crazier than me with even crazier
real MX bikes are showing up in town. I can't keep up with all
their ideas, besides, I've been there and done that, It was time
for me to call it off before I seriously hurt myself. And so I
bought a Honda 70 to keep me from joining them in racing and
claiming mountain tops. I still join some group for a joy ride
but not the crazy stuff. I surely got a lot of great times on
those years, but one thing I missed is that I rarely have any
photos to share, no imageries to recollect. Gladly, I'm so happy
to join CDR not as a rider but as a photographer, I still ride
some of the members bikes, but this time, my efforts are in
capturing their moments, sharing some good times, I still am
crazy with motorcycles, I just vent it in a more creative way
thru photography. Besides, even if you don't ride, this group is
such fun to be with.

In my younger years; I think I was 17 yrs old I saw my cousin's
late 1960's model motorcycle parked at my yard. I felt in love
with it and I really wanted to learn how to operate a
motorcycle. Due to my curiosity I stole his motorcycle using
a coin to start the ignition and I was lucky I did it and rode
it around the streets. Every time there was a motocross event in
my city I always take the chance to watch; and I told myself
that one day I will be one of them-a motocross rider. I came to
Chicago in 2004... in the spring of 2005 ,it was my shining year
when I met Sandie Sangcap, One day, he invited me to a
CDR camping and a motocross practice the following day at Sunset
Ridge MX in walnut, IL..That's where I met the members of the
Chicago dirt riders bringing their own dirt bikes... from that
moment on, I got interested in joining the group and in that
same year I was officially accepted to the CDR. Sandie, a member
of CDR let me ride his bike for a trial, it was then I felt in
love with the sport and in 2006 I finally bought my own dirt
bike, a 2004 Yamaha YZ-125. The first time I rode my bike I
realized that it was not that easy to become a motocross rider.
A lot challenging and discipline is needed. So I decided to sell
my bike but my friend stopped me and encouraged me to practice
more and watch the DVD for motocross techniques... now, that I
have the tools to learn the sport; suddenly my passion for
motocross is back. from that moment on, I was addicted to
motocross. Be Safe! eat my dust!... "More power to the Chicago
dirt riders " |

For as long as I can remember I have always been fascinated by
motorcycles. I can still remember when I was in 3rd grade that I saw a
bicycle that had plastic tanks and shocks
which looked like a small motorcycle. How I wanted that bike !! Although
I was probably too ashamed to asked from my mom and dad to buy it for me
because I was made to believe in
thriftiness and that bike cost 150 pesos. My first experience with
motorcycling was when I was already in 2nd year high school in Silliman,
Dumaguete. My best buddy, Edgardo Europa, had a 125cc motorcycle which
in its earlier life, saw action as a motorcab. It was there that I
learned how to ride a bike and using a clutch). We used to take turns
driving with another buddy, Jose Orden. We would cut classes and go
around Dumaguete City. It was a blast!! One important thing I learned:
Never use the handbrake while turning. After high school, I spent some
time in Dipolog waiting to leave for the States on a Rotary Exchange
Scholarhip. I
used my dad’s Honda 70 scooter every single day. With my friend,
Antonino Realiza who owned a small Honda 50 monkey, we would take along
5 friends (3 riding with me and 2 with him) drive to Polanco or Dakak or
Guimputlan over the most roughest of roads. I would go through a full
tank of gas in one day. That bike really suffered a lot of abuse but it
lasted. After law school, I never really gave any thought to riding a
motorbike until I was made a dealer of Norkis Yamaha used bikes from
Japan. I was a bad bike salesman, only sold two bikes, including one
which I sold to myself, a white Yamaha WR200 which was too tall for me.
My brother, Mao, a mean trail rider himself, exchanged it with his new
KMX125 which suited me just fine. Together with my DYC brods, we would
go test drive all my motorcycles for sale and go trail riding. Then I
met Dodoy Saberon who supplied our group with all the fancy riding
gear. Dodoy would call me up at 3p.m. on any weekday and invite me to
do a fast trail ride in the hills of Dicayas. Together with Dodong
Llorente, the three of us would ride until around 7p.m. In a week we
would probably ride 3 or 4 times. Until Dodoy left for the States.
Before Dodoy left for the States however, he conned Enlai Barinaga into
buying a 1993 Yamaha YZ125. When Enlai got fed up with it, he sold it
to me and that started my racing career at the age of 35 – a beginner
executive rider. And I thought that that bike would last me at least 3
years. I am now on my 9th racing bike since that time. And I have
never stopped riding trail or motocross. It is a way of life. I
have heard of CDR when Lake talked to me about it a few years back.
When Alvin finally bought a bike and joined the group, I was then being
updated regularly on all CDR activities. CDR has always been major
sponsor in the Cycles Unlimited Annual Fiesta Motocross race for the
past few years. When I became President of Cycles, I thought of one way
of repaying CDR for its generosity and kindness by lugging a suitcase
full of wooden hand-carved trophies to Chicago and starting the first
Tigbakay race (which I also joined thinking I could outrace all the
novice riders in CDR, boy was I wrong. I was eating dust all the
way!!). Anyways, it is an honor for me to be accepted into the CDR
family although I am way out here. My bikes: used WR200(sold as junk),
used Yamaha Zerow(sold), used Kawasaki KMX125(don’t know where it is but
it was the bike Rex Barbaso used to win the 2003 Enduro Rider of the
Year Championship), used 93 Yamaha YZ125(sold to dax aves), new 03 Honda
CR125(sold to Chris Bengua), new 05 Honda CRF250 (sold in Cebu), used 03
Yamaha YZ125(sold to Basil Gonzales), used 05 KXF250F(sold to Gutsy
Bayawa), used 05 Yamaha 250F(sold to Nato Dumaguete), used 07 Yamaha
250F(sold in Bohol), at present: new 09 Yamaha YZ250F, used 07 CR150F,
used 08 CR50F.

I remember in 3rd grade when I was 8 yrs old my dad taught me how
to ride a motorcycle and that was Yamaha Jog 50cc. It took me
days just to master it by my self, at that time I never think on
trying to be a rider or something until I reached 5th grade. I
really wanted to try my dads Yamaha Enduro 100cc but my dad will
not allow me to ride on his bike because as what my dad said I am
too short and not strong enough to handle the bike. So whenever
my dad is not around or out of town, I try to sneak in to the
garage and steal the bike to ride at the back of our house where
we used to play baseball. That day I realize that it is fun to
ride offroads with powerful machines. So when I was in 6th grade
i started to watch motocross races anywhere in cebu with the
company of my uncle and aunt. They know how much I love the
sport cuz when they will cancel the trip, I will cry the whole
day in my room. At that time our relatives from my mom's side
were into motocross and were trained by Cebu's very known
veteran rider Pepo Rubi. I kept on dreaming that one day my
parent's will support me and let me ride, and so I find it hard
on how am I get a chance to ride. That's when I started to train
cross-country mountain bike in 1998 until 2004 and keep on
winning races on my division. In 2003 my relative let me try
their dirtbike and that was my first time to ride a Yamaha YZ250
2000 model but before that I have tried a lot of race bikes and
enduro bikes. So I asked my sister to buy me an mx boots from
the states and send it to Cebu. When I receive the boots I
cannot describe how happy I am at that time. From 2003, I started
racing motocross but I never stopped racing mountain bike.
In 2005 my sister called me up and said that she had a classmate
that is in Chicago and who's into motocross and I was very
excited to come over. So after a month, I have met my sister's
classmate Paul Tiu and Introduced me to the Chicago Dirt Riders.
I have a lot of fun with the group not even in motocross but on
any activity especially PARTIES...
at the same year I decided to join the group and became CDR-49.
MORE POWER TO THE GROUP......

I've been a dirtbike enthusiast since I was very young. Just
after learning to walk, I started to ride my BMX with
training wheels. At the age of seven, I was a skilled
rider, able to jump off ramps and fly through the air. I did a
lot of BMX freestyle riding when I lived in the Philippines.
When I came to the United States, I meet my cousin, Lake Lira Icao when he was the president of the
Chicago
Dirt Riders. I told him I wanted to join the group. They
accepted me in 2006. My first dirtbike was a Honda Cr125 which I
bought from Cary Santos. I won first place in both the Executive
category and the Novice category. I sold my dirtbike in order to
buy a bigger, more powerful bike. I have two dirtbikes now--a
Honda Crf450r and Crf250r. So watch out guys! |

My Passion for Dirt biking starts even
before i started my first grade. i remember driving our Honda 70
scooter to school. During my high school
days, i used to race BMX , until we bought an Endoro bike which
I used for Transportation business called Habal Habal. This is
one of those bike that could carry about 8 or sometimes 10
passengers, plus the chicken and the sacks of rice on my lap, i
did it for a couple of years until in 2003 I moved to Chicago and Neil
Velasco showed me his toy (Cr 250 '98 ) its been a dream of mine
to own a dirt bike someday. it so happen that one of the CDR
member were selling his bike. so i bought it .Yes, finally i got
my first dirt bike Cr 125 '98.From then on, I couldn't stop
shopping for more bikes on ebay. In 2004 i becomes a full pledge
member of the CDR group and so are my 3 kids.

I always have the passion for speed and excitement. Love for
motorcycles has been in my family for generation and quite a few
people inspired me into the sports of motocross.
My father who was always out every Sunday trailing with his
friends taught me how to ride the bike when i was 10 yrs. old
and before i could even reach the brake pedal. I also remembered
clinging behind my brothers' back while they were trail riding
with their friends and having so much fun. My dad used to
sponsor motocross racing in our town every fiesta and watching
those dirt riders with their muddy gears and loud bikes inspired
me more to become one of them.My family used to own various
motorcycles but it was the Honda CRM 250 that i used to service
for school that led me to meet Genei Faelnar, a famous cebuano
rider who invited me to go trail riding with other riders and
the rest was history.I became an " Enduro King " beginners class
after a year of riding and gradually earned more or less 30 motocross
trophies in the 90's.I met the pioneers of CDR in 1999 when i
first arrived in the U.S. but owning a dirt bike wasn't my
priority at that time. It was in 2006 when i had my '06 YZ250F
that i officially joined the CDR family and loving it.

My dad bought me a crf50, and my brother got a ktm65sx.
After me and my brother were done for 1 full year of the same
dirt bikes, we passed on our dirt bikes. My brother moved
to kx65, then i took his, the ktm65sx. My dad taught me how to
use the clutch. It was hard at first, but now it seems easy. I
learned the gears for the motorcycle. When I first raced I was
very nervous, but then I won second place for the first time.
The people in the CDR group are really great at racing. I hope
when I grow up I will be good as them.

I Grew up loving motorcycle and love to watch motocross
racing, just like my brother. then on November '99 i came to the
states, in the state of Oregon to work and since I Love
Motorcycle, I got a Street Bike instead of a dirt bike its a
600cc Honda CBR,it was slow . So, after a Year I gave it to my
Sister & upgraded to 1000cc Honda CBR On July 1 '05 I got into
an accident and suffered multiple injuries and I had memory loss
for 1 1/2 years, I could not talk and walk for a month . I know
CDR through my Brother since he live in Chicago & He keeps
inviting me to move in. A year after my accident I decided to
move in & saw his Dirt bike. I kind a scared to ride again since
my accident was still fresh in my memory. But after too much
convincing I went out and rode again at Walnut and KI tracks
until I got ejected from the bike Whew! Lucky enough I did not
fall hard. & I remember a CDR member helped me and gave me some
advice not to give up.So after a few months I was accepted to
the CDR. Right now I got a little experience with a Dirt bike .I
Would like to say thank you to the CDR member Who encouraged me
to ride again.
With my terrible experience on a bike, Friends, One thing I tell
you before you Ride
Let's always ask God for His Protection While we are Behind the
wheels..
That's all & God Bless us always. Ride safe..

I have been a motorcycle enthusiast since I was a kid.
Growing up in the Philippines is impossible for me to buy my own
bike. So I diverted to BMX riding. I learned to ride a
motorcycle on my cousin’s Honda XLR 450 with my interest of
trail riding at that time. When I moved to Florida, I bought a
Honda CBR 600rr. I have been always fascinated with power and
speed so after a year of riding the CBR I upgraded to a more
powerful Yamaha R1. Although it was a street bike, I still
considered riding off roads. I just I didn’t have anyone to ride
with in Florida.
My dream of being a motocross rider becomes a reality when I met
the Chicago Dirt Riders. The group was very hospitable and
invited me to join their club. So I started riding with them at
Kai tracks, IL. They would let me borrow their motorcycle for
practice until I could afford to buy my own. Just like the
street bike, I am fond of great powerful engine so I decided to
buy a Suzuki 450f. I won some races on my beginner days
borrowing dirt bikes but before I had a chance to win with my
450f, I got into an accident. My downtime is about 5 months. I’m
all healed up now but I’m back to not having a dirt bike. One of
these days I will be back on the track competing for that
priceless trophy.
My contract is still valid with Suzuki Makita Icao team. In 2009, I’m
hired as a trainer/coach for the Suzuki Makita. In 2010 or so, I
will be riding for Suzuki Makita with a 250f machine.
My favorite quote: “ Catch me if you can ”

I always have passion with motorcycles, I started riding
when I was in 4th grade . Every year competition is being held
in our town and I remember sneaking with my brother just to
watch motocross, we always find our way to watch the event
despite our parents approval. Since then, I wanted to join the
motocross but my parents does'nt allow because they wanted us to
finish college first, so i did. I joined CDRacing when I came to
Chicago to experience camaraderie, fun and fulfilling my dream

When the late Jessie Pineda came to our town to do Flat track &
Motocross races for two consecutive years. He & Dodong Tamayo
were greatest motocross riders in Mindanao in the 80’s,
they used to stay in our lodging house and Jessie always have me
sat on his lap. Felt like I was in heaven! It’s usual for kids
to feel that way toward his idol. then, came the idea of having
a bmx bike as a stepping stone.I started motocross racing when I
was 16, but I only participated the Dipolog races for 3 years.
My parents hated that sport so much until now.I started
participating races in Mindanao with my Yamaha 175 Enduro. In
1992, Mr. Bobby Bayawa bought a 1990 RM 250 and he let me ride
every races. For God’s sake, I lose only once on that bike for
four years. that means, I only miss 1 trophy. Mobil-Honda
discovered me during the Camel Motocross in Cebu City when none
of their team riders qualified for the main event in the
Beginner Class. I rode Reimar Opulentisima’s 1994 CR 250R. Coach
Richard Elisseff approached me to join in their tent and coached
me in the main event. Since then I’ve been in the Mobil-Honda
team in every races in the Camel Motocross for 2 years. but
I also enjoyed my local team and a lot all my local races. Most
of us are members of the Dipolog Cycles Unlimited. In 2007 i

My first motocross hero is my Dad ( Papa Waki ), who's also
one of the pioneer motocross legend in our hometown and
province, he and some family friends introduced me to the
sport.I was 10 years old when I got my first '95 Suzuki RM 125cc
in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay, but I never rode it, because of a
terrible accident. I broke my femur, jaw & ankle on a moped
bike. My family was so disappointed of what happened.
After a year of rehabilitation, I started to ride again, I did
some trail riding and also called " Tari Tari nga Lumba"....
hehehehe...
In 2007, I moved to Chicago and joined Chicago Dirt Riders. I
really like the energy, the action, the thrill and of course the
camaraderie and willingness to do as much as anything of this
group ( CDR ).

BMX and Mx alike are both tough on me. it broke my wrist
racing BMX and riding motocross scares the hell out of me. So

I was into motorcyles and bikes way back during my carefree
days in Dipolog,PI. I stumbled upon an interest in motocross
when a friend of mine happens to be a passionate and prominent
rider at that time. Unfortunately, the financial aspect
associated with this sport became a barrier to not pursue that
interest. Come 2007, Alvin Ang invited me to a CDR event. It
happened that we also have common friends who are into that
sport and was inspired to join. I became a cdr-member in 2008.
Now, my passion and interest in motocross have finally come in
full swing.
